Beginning from 25 October till 7 November 2001 the exhibition "Ludmila Petrushevskaya. Water-colours and Flowers" will take place at Leonid Shishkin Gallery.

Famous writer Ludmila Petrushevskaya has been creating wonderful water-colours for several years already. She does this not in order to sell them and earn money but for her friends' and her own pleasure. The writer's latest books published this year by the publishing house "Vagrius" were illustrated with her remarkable water-colours.

Several years ago the exhibition of Petrushevskaya's works called "Reading of the new, exhibition of the new" at the Museum of Literature was highly appreciated by the press.

"Independent Newspaper":
"Artists of that sort do not as a rule content themselves only with literature. They create their own painting and sometimes their own science, religion, music, one person becoming the whole nation. Ludmila Petrushevskaya is of that kind... she is eager to fillentire world with herself".

Magazin "She":
"It's hard to say if Ludmila Petrushevskaya is hiding from her admirers or not, but it's not very easy to see her and her very picturesque works"

"Kommersant-Daily":
" Ludmila Petrushevskaya has been creating for many years excellent subtle sketches of flowers and portraits (most often self-portraits), which are very different from her prose and drama of hard style. But her pictures can be compared with gloomy water-colours of the 30's - Zefirova, Rudakova, Fonvizina, which remind of crepe de Chine, powder "Rachelle", muscat of Massandra and epoch of Stalin passing aside"

"Domovoy":
" Water-colours of Ludmila Petrushevskaya are light, practically weightless affirmation of her very big eyes, which can see not only facade and reverse of life, but also turn to inaccessible heights, where live roses woven of air (Vrubel himself would be surprised at them!), people of heavenly beauty and also her own self, sitting in front of the mirror, sitting upright, as any artist supposed to, whose name and place will be defined by the future"

At the coming exhibition at Leonid Shishkin Gallery more than 60 works of Petrushevskaya will be presented: water-colours, fumages (pictures made with smoke fumes) and homages (copies-dedications of the works of her favourite artists).

On the opening day - 25 October - at the Gallery from 6.30 to 8.30 p.m. the writer's new books with her water-colours on covers will be presented. On the 26 of October literary soiree of the writer will take place at the Gallery, where invited guests will hear the author's performance of her prose.
